Today, our summer series — “Summer in the Psalms” — continues with Psalm 84, a Psalm of longing.  It was written by one who desperately longed to return to the house of God.  His longing was so strong that he even envied the birds, who were free to fly into the presence of God, and were able to nest in God’s house at any time.  This Psalm, which contains the three Beatitudes known as the ‘Old Testament Beatitudes’ is very similar to the more familiar Beatitudes found in the Sermon on the Mount.  They talk about how we are blessed if we rely on God’s strength, if we can dwell in God’s presence, and if we can fully trust in God in every circumstance.  To learn these lessons, we need to learn to rely on God today.

We look forward to continuing to share the uplifting messages of hope and inspiration found in the Psalms throughout the remainder of the summer.
