Kim is a native of Livonia, Michigan.  A graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, she holds two degrees in Vocal Performance.

After Kim returned to the Metro-Detroit area in 1993 to continue her solo career in classical music, a spiritual calling began to grow; to pursue a more sacred and contemporary Christian music path.  Having a personal relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ, Kim felt a deep connection with more Christ-centered music.  It was also at this time that the love of teaching was revealed.  In the winter of 1994, the Swan Voice Studio officially started, drawing students through the School of Sacred Arts, housed in Ward Presbyterian Church.

Since that time, Kim has established a private vocal studio that provides individual lessons and coaching to more than 35 students.  Studio membership represents all ages and all levels of music experiences; often supporting other music programs in many of the area churches, civic organizations, and several surrounding school systems.  She is presently the accompanist and vocal coach for the Livonia Civic Chorus.

Kim feels so blessed to be a part of the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth (FPCP) family as the Sanctuary Music Coordinator.  Kim and her husband, Jeff, began attending First Presbyterian in the Fall of 2007, joining the Chancel Choir in 2010.  The Music Coordinator serves all music details of Sanctuary worship; this includes overseeing all choral and special music for the Sanctuary services as well as all other needed music ministry administrative organizations.

Together with her husband, Jeff Swan (Sanctuary Music Director), she is grateful for this opportunity to serve the body of Christ.  Kim and Jeff have two boys, Devon, and Nathan, who also attend First Presbyterian of Plymouth.
