Sanctuary Music Director
Jeff Swan, our Sanctuary Music Director, has a long history with First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth (FPCP). He has been a member of the Chancel Choir since the Fall of 2010 and on many occasions, he served as the choral director substitute when needed.
Jeff is a firm believer that music touches the soul in many ways, often at a depth that can exceed any other human thing on earth. A devout believer in Jesus Christ, he is grateful and pleased to be serving the First Presbyterian family as the Music Director and Choral Conductor for the Sanctuary service.
Jeff has a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Central Michigan University. Having acquired much of his conducting skills through study and 40 years of choral performances, Jeff has had the privilege of working with well-known Choral Directors such as Dr. Jerry Smith, Dr. Jerry Blackstone, Maynard J. Klein, Dr. Kenneth Jewell, and Dr. Nina Nash Robertson. Other choral experiences include collegiate vocal groups of Central Michigan University and Schoolcraft College, as well as “Measure for Measure” Men’s Chorus and the Michigan Gospel Singers.
Jeff also served as a member of Stage Services for ten years at the prestigious Interlochen Center for the Arts in Interlochen, Michigan. For most of his tenure, he served in a managerial role.
Currently, Jeff is the Director of Music for the Livonia Civic Chorus (2017-present). He is also employed by Tenet Health/DMC hospitals of Michigan as a Systems Analyst/Programmer.
Jeff is married to Kim, our Sanctuary Music Coordinator. They were married in June of 1997 and have two boys, Devon, and Nathan, who also attend First Presbyterian of Plymouth.
