Life Lessons: Lessons from Proverbs - Upper Room | First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth

During today’s service, we honored mothers on Mother’s Day as we looked at the book of Proverbs. Rev. Campbell shared some specific lessons we can all learn from the book of Proverbs – one of the 3 wisdom books (Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job).

Several of today’s focused readings from Proverbs include advice on how to deal with trouble, not only of the kind that occurs to us and over which we have no control (Proverbs 3:5-6), but also of the kind we bring upon ourselves (Proverbs 16:18).  In either case, the best advice that Proverbs offers us is to trust in the Lord in all things and at all times.

Also, Proverbs 18:24 reminds us that Jesus stays with us at all time, closer even than our best friends or family members, and that he never leaves or forsakes us, even in those times of trouble.  If we foster a close relationship with Jesus throughout our entire lives, our faith will continue to grow and strengthen.

Based on Proverbs 1:1-7; 3:5-6; 16:18; 18:24; 22:6.
