Summer Celebration Sunday - God's Gifts | First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth

As summer draws to a close, the church celebrated with a Summer Celebration Sunday.  We held a single service at 10:00am, followed by an all-church picnic.  In keeping with the celebration, the children from VBS joined us to lead two songs, and we heard from two of the teens who went to Hume Camp this summer.

We were also joined by Mr. Rogers himself (aka Directory of Students Josh Imboden), who shared a message with the children based on Deuteronomy 31:6.  He reminded the kids of the VBS lesson –  that God is always here, even when life is scary, like when we go back to school. So, when life is changing, we should be strong and courageous, because God will never leave us.

Rev. Campbell talked about God’s Gifts, as outlined in Galatians 5:22-25.  She asked us to consider the question: Where is your focus on your life today?  For instance, students, teachers and parents may be looking at the upcoming school year with many emotions, including anxiety.  We may look back at the fears or regrets we have experienced in the past.  If we focus on what is wrong or what makes us fearful, it’s easy to become discouraged.  So the better question would be: Where are we called to keep our focus?  Perhaps it is actually to step back and say ‘Thank You’ to God for the blessings we have received.
