But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Acts 1:8 NIV
Acts 1:8 is the guiding scripture for the mission outreach at First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth (FPCP). We believe the Spirit calls us to be Christ’s witnesses in Plymouth (Jerusalem), in the United States (in all Judea and Samaria), and around the world (to the ends of the earth).
God’s vision reaches all across the world. While serving locally, nationally and internationally, we narrow our focus and develop deep relationships with a small number of mission partners. We strive to reach out with hearts and hands to those in need to foster an authentic community and provide opportunities to share the love of Christ within each of our partnerships.
We invite everyone at FPCP to become involved in mission outreach. There are countless ways you can serve our Lord and build long-lasting relationships that stretch far beyond financial support. Your God-given talents are needed and we’d love to help connect you with an opportunity to share your gifts!
Local Mission (LMC) Partners
Faith Communities Coalition on Foster Care
We host meetings that provide information from speakers and foster care agencies on ways to support foster care and encourage people to become foster parents. We provide clothing, school supplies and backpacks, sponsor Michigan foster children, and support 25 Waye State University students who have aged out of foster care.
We provide financial and hands-on support to the shelter for victims of domestic violence and their pets. We have a team of gardeners that tend to the grounds and grow vegetables for the residents.
FPCP has been partners with HOPE Clinic in Ypsilanti for over twenty years. This free clinic provides medical, dental, food, prayer, and care including mental health support for its clients. Volunteers regularly prepare and serve hot community meals and distribute produce at the farm stand. There is also always a need for medically trained volunteers as well.
Please join one of the groups that help prepare and serve community dinners at Hope:

Kids Hope USA Partnership with FPCP
We mentor students at Bird Elementary School and West Middle School in Plymouth who struggle in school, socially or academically, or both. Volunteer mentors spend one hour per week at school, reading, talking, playing games, helping with homework, and most important, listening to a child who could benefit from a little extra individual attention. Through regular, positive, one-on-one attention and encouragement, mentors help their student feel seen and valued, more confident, and better equipped to learn and grow. For more information on how to become a mentor, contact Susan Johnson.
We provide food and household supplies, financial assistance, and gifts for families in need at Christmas. For many years, we have rung the Salvation Army bell at the red kettles at Christmas time in the community.

What Else Can I Do To Help?
Kroger Community Rewards Program
As a Kroger Plus Card shopper, a percentage of every dollar you spend at a Kroger store can be donated to FPCP. To participate in this FREE program, you must be enrolled through your Kroger Plus Shopper’s Card in the Kroger Community Rewards program and designate First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth as your recipient organization. Mtenthera CCAP Church Partnership
Mtenthera CCAP Church is a rural Presbyterian church in Kamphata, Malawi, Africa. FPCP became formal partners with Mtenthera CCAP in 2010. FPCP employs Mr. Hussein Latif as Partnership Coordinator to manage relationships, visits, and projects.
Members from both churches have traveled between Malawi and the US. These visits have created strong relationships, rooted in our common Christian beliefs. We support one another in prayer and joint devotions. The partnership has also completed many water, building, and infrastructure projects, including construction of a girl’s dormitory providing safe access to secondary education through housing and scholarships.
Veritas College Malawi
Veritas College Malawi makes Bible, leadership, agricultural, and financial training accessible to church leaders and members. Thousands of church members in Malawi have been trained by a network of local Malawian facilitators. FPCP supports Veritas College training at our partner church, Mtenthera CCAP, through annual financial contributions to the ministry and meeting the Veritas leaders in person to provide encouragement.
