Music Ministry at FPCP
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—shout for joy before the LORD, the King.
Psalm 98:4-6
The music ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth (FPCP) is vibrant! We love to make a joyful noise before the Lord! Our varied music ensembles invigorate our worship in ways that touch different parts of the heart. Whether you are a vocalist, or an instrumentalist, or simply worshipping, we have something musically uplifting for you.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir, under the artistic direction of Jeff Swan, is the principal music ensemble that leads our traditional Sanctuary worship service. The choral repertoire encompasses a wide variety of classical sacred and contemporary favorites, as well as oratorio masterworks. The choir welcomes singers from surrounding communities in addition to members of the church. The choral season at FPCP begins in September and continues through May. The Chancel Choir performs regularly for Sunday morning services at 9:30 AM in the Sanctuary and gives concerts throughout the year.
Director: Jeff Swan
Rehearsals: Thursday evenings, 7:30 – 9:00 PM in the Upper Room
Upper Room
On Sunday mornings at 11:15 AM, the Upper Room service invites us to encounter God in an informal, contemplative format that is both joy-filled and reflective. Upper Room music is led by Chris DuPont and Kylee Phillips, a powerful vocal duo who accompany themselves with piano and acoustic guitar. They draw from a diverse repertoire of contemporary praise, traditional hymns, modern worship music, and original compositions. Chris and Kylee are also original artists who are very active in the local Midwest music scene, and they work hard to bring what they learn on the road or in the recording studio when they serve on Sunday mornings. They strive to deliver music that is high quality, while never losing its invitational and inclusive spirit.

The Joyful Ringers Handbell Choir
The Joyful Ringers handbell choir is open to those who have a desire to serve the Lord in a special instrumental ministry. The ability to read music is helpful but not required. The Joyful Ringers perform monthly during worship services, at special events, handbell workshops, and festivals.
Director: Sue Scott
Rehearsals: Wednesday evenings, 7– 9 PM in Room 137
Children’s Music Ministry
During Sunday School, children have an opportunity to learn traditional Bible songs and prepare to perform in worship on special occasions throughout the year. There is a Christmas Pageant each December in which the children sing Christmas carols and have a chance to act out the Nativity story. We welcome all PreK-5th grade children to participate!
