What is the FUN IN THE SUN Fundraiser?

Each year, the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth’s Fitness in Christ group gathers all who are interested in spending a morning doing outdoor fitness activities together with family and friends in order to raise awareness and funds for one of our church’s partners in need.

This year, we are very excited to be supporting the Colina de Luz Christian Home for Children located just outside of Tijuana, Mexico. This orphanage is home to 5060 children who have been placed there by the Mexican government because they are orphaned, abandoned, abused, and/or are victims of extreme poverty. First Pres Plymouth has had an ongoing relationship with this orphanage for 15 years. You can learn more about this Christcentered ministry by visiting their website at www.colinadeluz.org.

How can I participate?

There are four ways you can be a part of this! You can pray, participate, volunteer, and/or donate.

TO PRAY:

We ask that you add the children at Colina de Luz to your prayers. Each child comes from a traumatic background, but at Colina de Luz they have a world of opportunity opened to them that they would not otherwise receive. They are fed nutritious food. They learn how to receive and share love within a large family. They receive excellent health care. They receive an education potentially through university. And most importantly, they learn about Jesus Christ. Each of these children need our prayers.

TO PARTICIPATE:

You may choose to walk, run, cycle, and/or participate in an outdoor yoga class. This is NOT a competitive event, and ALL skill levels are welcome!

Edward Hines Drive will be closed to traffic between Ann Arbor Trail and Outer Drive which allows you to safely enjoy as little or as much as you want of this beautiful route through Hines Park. The morning will culminate in an opportunity to practice yoga with a trained yoga instructor followed by a free lunch. Families are welcome to participate together but please note, children will be the responsibility of their parents as childcare will not be provided. To register to participate go to the following link. It’s important to note there is detailed event information on the sign-up so please be sure to review it all. If you are viewing the sign-up from your mobile phone, be sure to click on “VIEW MORE DETAIL” for complete event information.
