Lots of people lately are looking for lost relatives.  In today’s Bible verse, Mary and Joseph were looking for their lost son, Jesus, who was 12-years-old, as they were returning home from Jerusalem.  After three days, they finally found him in the temple, talking with the religious teachers.  While his parents were running after him, looking for their lost child, he was presenting himself for the first time as a Jewish adult man.  Jesus surprised his parents with his actions and his words.  Later, after his death, he appeared to some of his followers on the road to Emmaus.  Again, it was three days since everything had taken place, and he surprised these men with his presence and with his conversation.

Does God surprise us today when the events of our lives leave us shaken? God doesn’t always act in the ways we expect or anticipate.  And these are the times we must ask ourselves, will we run TOWARD God, or will we walk away because what we had expected didn’t happen.  Our faith in God must evolve because He acts in unexpected ways.

Based on Luke 2:41-52.
