Common grace is a little-discussed concept that most of us are unfamiliar with. Common grace is the foundational idea that grace is granted to EVERY person, regardless of race, religion, nationality or circumstances of life. Grace is a gift bestowed upon every single person – we are ALL created in the image of God, and as such, each and every one of us has been given special gifts. Common grace is a call to treat everyone as a child of God. It’s also a call to check our attitudes – to make sure we’re open to God’s purposes over our own.
Based on Luke 10:29-37 (the story of The Good Samaritan) and Jonah 1:4-16 (Jonah gets thrown into the sea).
