We continue our series on The Fruit of the Spirit with a look at Patience. Rev. Schaefer began by asking the question, “How much time do we spend waiting?” We’re a society of waiting – waiting for traffic, in lines, on hold, for service people, for doctors, for packages, for special events, for the flowers to bloom… We are an impatient people. We don’t want to wait; we want things NOW! this even happens in our Christian lives. But God is constantly telling us to wait. To be patient. If you can’t be still and wait, you can’t become who and what God wants you to become. We must remember that everyone and everything belongs to God, and that God’s plans for us are good. Of course, nothing will be perfect, to our expectations, but our belief in God, as we wait, will allow us to better endure, no matter what comes in our lives.
Based on Isaiah 40:1-8, 28-31; Galatians 5:22-25; 1 Corinthians 13:4-7; Colossians 3:12-17.
