As we recognize Mother’s Day, we take a look at the Fruit of the Spirit of Kindness.  Rev. Schaefer pointed out, especially as we think about the kindness of mothers on Mother’s Day, that in a world where you can be anything, BE KIND.  It is something we can choose to be at any opportunity.  We can choose to bully, we can choose to be awful to others, we can choose to participate in the terrible or popular or angry things in this world…  Or we can choose to be kind.  Kindness can make the difference in someone’s life.  Kindness in a person’s time of need or in a difficult situation may be remembered forever.  Being kind bears witness to our love of Jesus Christ, and shows what it means to be a Christian.  If we look at the witness of Jesus and how he was kind to all – tax collectors, sinners, Romans and Gentiles, lepers, prostitutes, even people like Zachius, and Judas – we can see what it means to be kind.  It is our call to take our love for others out, to share it, to be tender and forgiving and kind.  In a world where you can be anything… be kind.
