Epiphany Sunday is also known as ‘Star Sunday.’ It is special with its connection to the story of the Wisemen, or Magi, who followed the star and  approached King Herod searching for the Christ Child, then who took gold, frankincense and myrrh to the stable to present to Mary and Joseph to honor the baby.  Today, each person was presented with a star upon which was written a very special word for 2019.  These words may be an inspiration or a hope, a challenge or a comfort.  But our wish is that these words will be ones that make an impact on each person’s faith and lives this year.

As we look at these words, we should be like Mary this year and ponder the meaning of our star word in our hearts.  We should be like the shepherds, who shared the message of their Christmas experience with others.  We should be like the wisemen, who followed their star, even in the darkest night and on the long, uncharted journeys we experience.  We should look to the light of the star, not just today, but throughout the rest of our lives.  We should BE the fourth wiseman.

Based on Matthew 2:1-12 and Luke 11:9-13.
