Christ the King Sunday is a day that comes periodically, but not regularly, in the Christian calendar.  It is the Sunday that occasionally falls between Thanksgiving and the 1st Sunday in Advent, so we only celebrate it once in awhile, but it’s intention is to focus on the King of Love, our Shepherd.  Rev. Chochran talked about it in terms of the Hebrew word ‘chesed’ – loving kindness.  Jesus would have known about chesed – a commitment to care for and love all people.  He would have been all about acts of compassion for us and for others.  But this is a little different than the ‘random acts of kindness’ that are so popular these days.  Jesus asks us to not just act randomly, but to live in the place of chesed always.  Make loving kindness part of who you are.

Based on Psalm 100 and Matthew 25:31-46.
