Racism……Injustice……Repentance……Reconciliation……What’s a Christian to Do?

Learning and Discussion (Part 2): Thursday, Dec. 3rd, 7:00pm-8:30pm

Please join with members of the congregation for a time of learning, of discussing, of praying: to help us better understand the issues in our society/country related to racism and injustice, and to help inform each of us as we seek reconciliation and healing.

What does the Bible say about the sin of racism? What does the Bible say about justice, and how we as Christians might help to achieve it? How might we be a positive force for reconciliation in our country today? What can I, as an individual, do? Two of the Bible Study groups at FPCP have been grappling with these questions over the past several months.

On Thursday evening, October 29th at 7:00pm, the Member Connect Committee will hold a “Zoom” gathering for those who are interested to view together a sermon preached by the Rev. John Ortberg at Menlo Church in June 2020, shortly after the killing of George Floyd.  We are hopeful this will be a valuable introduction to these topics, as we seek to learn where God is leading us, as individuals, and as a congregation. After viewing the sermon together, we can will have some conversation and reflections about its key messages and teachings.

On Thursday evening, December 3rd at 7:00pm, we will host a second gathering to continue the discussion and conversation, including viewing a sermon preached by the Rev. Dr. Michael Nabors at Second Baptist Church of Evanston, IL. We hope you can join us at for both of these sessions.
